How your kitchen style defines your home.
The kitchen is the most important part of the house- (even if you don’t like to cook!). It is the space that we find everyone is drawn to and ultimately it is also the most important selling feature – if this is the choice you find yourself making.
The type of design of your kitchen depends on the style of your house, the location and space of the kitchen, your storage requirements and desired look. Functionality is the most important aspect of any kitchen; the design is the fun bit! But it can be overwhelming with options.
The different types of kitchens can be defined, but there is no fast and hard rule (as they do cross over) to what is best. It is truly understanding what best works for you. Here are some quick tips on the different styles and options available for you:
Farmhouse: Think wooden furniture, detailed doors, large appliances, open shelving and soft colours that omit a ‘lived-in’ comfortable and welcoming look.
Trend ideas: Trendwood Timber Flooring, Classic White Satin Doors, Pegasus Blue Granite Benchtops, Butlers Sink and Tiled Splashback
Modern: The ultimate minimum look- sleek and minimum with strong horizontal lines, integrated appliances, and simple colour palettes combined with reflective surfaces.

Contemporary: more common design as it allows a stronger mix of materials and can be a fusion of the latest trends mixed with traditional elements. Consider Matt or satin finishes, gourmet cooking equipment, seating and functional storage.

Traditional: how traditional you go, is up to you- you can do the big Aga, corbels, decorative mouldings, panelled glass doors and cabinetry to the benchtop, ornate lighting, and large butlers sink.

Hamptons: a popular look, this can fuse the contemporary and traditional look, but ultimately the Hamptons look is created with the surface selections- natural stone or natural stone look is the dominating feature in any Hamptons kitchen. Add in natural hues of colour (mixing colours is ok), butlers sink, shaker style doors with contrasting handle colours.
