Secrets to a successful kitchen face-lift

September 4, 2018/admin

Every week we get asked… ‘Can I just change my benchtop?’ We can hear the hesitation in the person’s voice as they ask the question.

Because what if it’s a no? Does that mean a whole new kitchen? Do we need to spend more money, more time and do more shopping around? (Possibly not the worst bit!). The reality is that sometimes you don’t need a whole new kitchen – just a face-lift – an update, something new that transforms your space into something special.

And what we love most about these clients is that we get to say ‘YES!’ Yes you can update your benchtop without renovating your whole kitchen and yes, you have called the right people. That’s what we do and we are here to help you achieve your new look.

Simple white stone tops and new splashback transformed this dark bungalow kitchen into a light filled space.

Purchasing a new benchtop can be as simple as you like! If you have an older kitchen you may want to upgrade your appliances or update your door colours at the same time – it really is up to you. If you have a new kitchen and you just want to inject a bit of “you” – then a new benchtop can do the trick.

The next question we get asked is ‘how much is it going to cost me?’ There is no simple answer for this. The best way to know if you can afford a new benchtop is to discuss your kitchen with us. We can look over your benchtop plans; discuss colour options, thickness and materials that suit your design and anticipated look. We will then provide you with a quote (this can include some different cost options), so that you know how much a new benchtop will cost – then you can decide what you want to invest in your tops.

New lease on life – a new stone benchtop and splashback without the cost of a complete renovation.

Where do you start? Start with some dimensions of your benchtops – these can be from plans, hand drawn or from a joiner. Bring them into the showroom with you – with any sample colours that are in your house, or flooring (yes, you won’t be the first person to bring in a sample of your existing flooring!), anything that helps you see what benchtop will work for you. A lot of our existing clients will show us photos of their existing spaces.

Do consider a new splashback (there are plenty of options to choose from) and that you may need assistance with trades, or getting your tops off, we can discuss the options that are right for you.

Updating benchtops in your new house can be an effective way of adding a bit of “you” into the existing design.

In the first instance you can email or phone us, but ultimately it’s great when you come in and see the benchtop options for yourselves.

We hope this bit of information helps you and if you have any other queries about benchtops, or renovating, please email us at enquiries@adelaidemarble.com.au – we would love to answer your questions and look forward to meeting you!
